tearing... dvi vs vga

so the only way to stop tearing without having vsync on is to turn up all the graphics details and slowing the game down to the monitors refresh rate.

i just tried everything on high, trying to bring the fps down and your right it does tear just as much, vsyncs the only way to stop it.

I have to have everything set low in bf2, with aa and af off to get a stable fps above 60. Do you think an extra 7600 would let me bring the settings higher?

i dont see any point in getting a 19" widescreen when im having probs with 1152x864.

1440 x 900 would push it too hard me thinks. maybe even in sli?

I AM using vsync (and tripple buffering) now i know its the only way to stop tearing but when i have it on with aa/af and the other settings on medium or high.. the fps plummits as low as 30 (with settings on high).
With everything on low.. the fps stays roughly 75 which is nice

if i was to buy another 7600gt, would i be able to play with these settings on high maybe?

my english must be crap

V-sync doesnt reduce the framerate to anything lower than what the monitors set at. Its just because the 7600 isnt a top range graphics card I dont see whats wrong with 30fps tbh but your better off buying a new card than using 2 7600s in sli.

vsync does reduce fps lower than the monitors refresh rate.

i cant see how you can possibly play at 30fps. it totaly ruins gameplay alltogether, it affects aiming, moving and everything else when it comes to first person shooters. even in games like civilization IV.

sometimes when playing bf2 online you see newbs freeze and turn extra shi when theirs a lot going on. the higher fps takes a lot of advantage over this.

im going for the HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT. should see a lot of improvement

Games play fine, if you cant aim at 30fps its because your a bad shot.

if you was to join a 32+ bf2 server with a lot of good players and a close combat sort of map. theirs no way you would handle the gameplay at 30fps.

you say you can play fear with a constant fps of 100... what settings is this with

yes im sticking to vsync, and using the forced on setting for tripple buffering. I would have thought a brand spanking new geforce 7 series card would handle it at least with everything on medium.

Im hoping this card im getting with the acer AL1916WS will be fast enough to play at 1440 x 900, vsync on and everything on high.
