tearing on 2nd monitor

GPU = 290x

monitor 1 = samsung 120hz monitor connected via DVI-D

"monitor" 2 = samsung tv 60hz connected via display port -> HDMI converter as the HDMI out on my GFX card gives "snow"

The problem = tearing just playing videos... its really obvious any time theres any kind of moovement

any ideas?
 
You don't need to match refresh rates, at all, when running several screens :p

Happily running 3 screens here - one gsync at 120, two others at 60. Sometimes even overclock one of the other 60hz panels to 75hz and never get ANY tearing in anything.
Running windows 7 64bit by the way so nothing fancy even.

I have a secondary machine running duel monitors, one being 1080p 120Hz the other 1440p 60Hz fed by a 780, W10 and no tearing.

Something else is a miss.
