Due to a change in policy at work I can no longer use the my work internet to connect to live. I am though allowed to teather from my ipad and connect to live at work.

The trouble is I'm getting a strict NAT. Anyone know how to fix this or if it even can be? I can't get any games at all on Gears with the strict NAT :(

Just where exactly do you work? It sounds awesome.

I don't think there is much you can do. Maybe try a wi fi hotspot if you have that option on your iPad and a wireless Xbox.

I have a 3G card in my pad and get a very good connection. Better than my home connection but it's the damn strict NAT it makes game searching almost impossible.

So I'm using a wireless hotspot and wireless xbox but searching the internet I can't find anything to allow you to not have a strict NAT. It's annoying because the wireless at work it 100 up and down :(

I used to be able to use that, but a few instances at work have ruined it, so a policy change now says no gaming on the work connection :(

Get back to cleaning the toilets you bloody skiver.

I licked them clean, I can now game :p

I had the same with my iphone mate, you on o2?

At the beginning of the year I was using giffgaff and my galaxy s3 to tether it wasn't too bad, I had a moderate nat type but tbh I was probably a nightmare for other players on halo 4.

I was reading that nat types are ultimately determined by the provider.

3G is actually decent enough for gaming. I get 8mb down around these parts.

Can't offer any more advice I'm afraid!

Is it really worth playing an fps online on 3g? Unless it's cod with mental lag compensation.

I get almost 12 meg down 3 or 4 up on three with 20ms ping at work in Luton and with Gears on dedicated servers that's plenty good enough. I even tried it at home on three where I get 4mb down 2mb up but with a worse ping in comparison to my home ADSL of 7.5mb and about 0.3 to 0.4 up. :(

The sooner 4G is an affordable option at home the better :D

I found halo 4 playable, however bf3 would give me a black screen after loading.

I'd imagine tethering would put you at a lag disadvantage regardless of 3g/4g though.
