TEC water block!

Skimp on the power supply and it won't work. TEC's generally need dedicated PSU like the Meanwell listed on the page you linked. These can be expensive as is the block itself ($160). Nice to see Swiftech doing a TEC-Block again but I'm struggling to see the benefits when fully costed.

Looks like a nice bit of kit. If they do pre-cut gaskets for it (the foam insulation) it would be the ideal lazy man starter kit. (Having it all pre-assembled saves a lot of hastle, especially if you don't have the right kit to clamp the coldplate to the TEC.)

Measured power draw at 12 VDC: 18A

As mentioned above - if you want the full 216W out of it at 12v you need to provide 18A on the 12v rail! Dedicated specialist power supply is a must - though you can get them cheaper than Meanwell, if you want to do it properly...

Power wise I'm not sure how that will cope with your X2 - I used a 226W'er on my Opti 148 and it was awesome - quite a bit more heat to contend with on the Dual core though - will dig around for the stats.

Edit: Just realised this is 775 only - found a great link on power outputs HERE

All of the c2ds look pretty good at 65W, so even if you doubled this you still be fine with a 226W pelt :) - might just tempt me back in! :p

Cavemanoc, you da man! I'm just getting a little nervous about the whole icing-up-when-CPU-is-idling business, still not sure if I'm gonna go for TEC's. But damn I want to!

The whole 'icing up' thing is seriously over-rated - not really an issue - if it were I'd have had bigger problems with my Mach 1 which got down to -30C!

Condensation is the only real worry as the coldplate will get down to sub-zero temps and dew up. Use a proper gasket kit and some dialectric grease and you'll be fine - Be brave - it's not hugely efficient, but it's fun, and if you've already got the water kit it's cheaper than Phase and a nice half-way house between water and phase!

If you go for it, drop me an email and I'll linky you up - got some great resources (kit and info), but unfortunately some are with competitors
