tech advice needed - belkin wireless router does not work

belkin are absolutely useless for tech support. I've rung them five times over the last 4 weeks and every time I get a euro accent saying "I'm sorry, the line is bad, I can't hear you, could you call back later."

I cannot get through. very frustrating. I've had to plug my old USB ADSL modem back in and the wife is going crazy over the wire going down the stairs.

could I have some tech support please?

I have the following from overclockers UK

Belkin F5D7633UK4A Wireless Router & F5D7051UK Wireless Adapter 125Mbps Bundle

I have been to the belkin website. no joy.
I have looked around on line. tried a few suggestions, no joy.

basically, the router flickers in and out of being available.

the machine can see it, then its gone, then its there again. its completely unusable.

it's about 20 feet from the router so range isn't an issue. the machine can SEE the USB antenna adapter fine. on an occasional day it can work fine for hours and then it's just unuseable for weeks.

I've had it about 5 months now and its been like this for about 3 of those.

can anyone help please?

alternatively, can OcUK tech support authorise a return or replacement if nothing can be suggested?

I'm at the end of my tether here over this, so frustrating.

are you using the wireless or wired connection to the router ?

most wireless routers have a wired cat5 connection as well. Any chance you could move the PC nearer the router to test if its the routers connection to the internet thats the problem

or if its the wireless

if it is the wireless, you may have to rule out it being your PCs fault by trying a different wirless adapater on your PC

if you've already done that, and ruled it to be the wireless connection thats the problem, then it doesnt look good. A quick google reveals lots of people with belkin routers all of which have routers that have wireless that stops working for no reason

might be best to buy another router to tide you over, then fight for a refund on the belkin.

using wireless.

no joy.

If I hook the actual cable up to the router it works fine. therefore the wireless is the bit that it buggered unfortunately.

range doesn't seem to be the issue because for the first few months it worked fine. then it started doing this whole random stop start thing.

I think based on other people having problems with this when I googled, that a refund might be the best way round for everyone.
