Hi Guys, for a project that I am doing can you do me a favour. List the sites that you visit the most for reviews of tech gear in order of preference...

Mine for instance is:

Anandtech
Engadget
TheVerge

and maybe TrustedReviews occasionally.

If you have a bit more time to give a little explanation as to why would be even better :)

NOT TO PURCHASE STUFF (Respect OcUK), JUST REVIEWS!

If i am looking to buy I.T hardware then:
I search around or check one of the areas on the OcUK forum because I can get a whole number of user opinions quickly and easily

If I want to learn about new tech then that I didnt know existed then
  • Engadget
  • CNET
  • Reddit
  • Wired
  • Theregister
  • Twitter
  • I have tons of RSS feeds that I accumulate knowledge from

But I get a great deal of my knowledge from sites like OcUK and the links the community provides.

I check other information relating to those links (I search around), but the best way to get information is from user opinion and this place has tons of experts and even more enthusiasts

Anandtech is by far the most useful, their comparisons are essential when buying new gear.
Endgadget
Ocuk- Excellent for user reviews from reliable sources

Don't really use much else, The Register I suppose, but I rarely check it nowadays

There seem to be about 100,000 different sites now, 99% of which are poorly written by people who want to blag free hardware and think all they need to do in order to manage this is write a page of badly written text saying 'this is a pretty good card but the fan is noisy' whilst filling the rest of the site with recycled news from everywhere else leaving only a few that are worth the bother.

So I use Anandtech, Engadget etc.

bit-tech and TechRadar are two that I often gravitate to

Depends what i'm buying really and what sort of review I want

Madshrimps (links to other review sites)
Hardware Secrets
TechPowerUp
Vortez
Hexus
Bit-Tech
Kitguru
Tweaktown
HardwareCanucks

Many more I can't think of right now, but those are the major ones for me.

Also for tech news:

VR-Zone
Expreview

AnandTech, it's just the best
Hexus for anything UK specific
Engadget and TheVerge for more "user experience" stuff

For CPUs and GPUs, I use Passmark. It was easy in the 1990s chasing the megahertz. Now we have hyperthreading, more cache, more cores, more cache, cores with hyperthreading, even more cache. It's just too difficult to compare clock-to-clock speeds nowadays without using a guide.
