Just before getting home something went ping. so had a look under the car and a belt was hanging down.

Just checking as I haven't got the manual the alternator is at the front of the engine, on the top left handside.

Theres Something else directly below it with no belt on it, possibly water pump? and a cog where a belt looks like it should go coming out the left center of the engine...

Any one just confirm this, or got any diagrams?

Water temp sky rocketed and battery light came on, so pretty confident the pump and alternator belts have gone.. I could find just one belt, but Im assuming it should be 2..

Also anyone rember that online fiatparts place?

The sporting uses the 1108cc FIRE engine, the S and SX (which I believe that AH has) use some prehistoric 900cc coal fired lump with pushrods and everything :p

yep pushroads. which is why I didn't strip any valves when the belt gave way..

Also the middle of my exhaust is scraping the floor LOL.. Me needs some big jubilee clips.

You wouldn't have bent any valves if it was an OHC engine, as the belts are different, to protect against things like this. :) Also one is a Vee belt and the other is a toothed belt (you dont want slip on your cambelt;)) :)

right sorted :).. Is it that alternator belt i need ?

http://www.shop4parts.co.uk/index.cfm/method/catalogue.list/

doesn't say anything about water pump?

(nope it aint that1 tahts a 1.1 engine..

In which case I can't find what I need any ideas?

also whats the chances of halford having one. do they stock belts?

well its all back up and running, the reason the belt snaped, was the bolt out the bottom engine mount fell out :o, which meant in acceleration the engine move forwards about 3cm and the pully system dug into the metal framework of the radiator housing :eek. This is also why the exhaust was hanging low.
