Ok so i have just discovered (the hard way) that you can only activate DreamSpark software once. Rubbish :mad:.

But since I'm willing to put some money into getting my mini learning environment up and running, I'm looking at getting a "TechNet" subscription, £300, and i can pretty much have all the MS software I want, so long as its not using in production!

So is this correct, I would like to know the Caveats.

The MS site says:

"Access the full evaluation versions of over 200 Microsoft products, with no time limits"

Code:
Access the full evaluation versions of over 200 Microsoft products, with no time limits.

What is the general nature of the terms of the TechNet Plus Subscription End User License Agreement?
The subscription terms vary based on your subscription level and license type. Each subscription license type entitles only the designated subscriber to use evaluation software, support incidents and access the TechNet Benefits Portal – no other users are entitled to use these resources. A single-server subscription allows a workgroup to share the technical information library content only with others in their organization. For full details on use rights, see the [URL="http://technet.microsoft.com/subscriptions/cc294422.aspx"]TechNet Plus License Terms[/URL].
Can I use evaluation software received in my TechNet Plus subscription at home?
The license grants installation and use rights to one user only, for evaluation purposes, on any of the user’s devices, this may include devices at home. Keep in mind that you may use the evaluation software only to evaluate it. You may not use it in a live operating environment, a staging environment, or with data that has not been sufficiently backed up. You may not use the evaluation software for software development or in an application development environment.
It even has testimonials: “I can access unrestricted copies of just about any Microsoft product instantly.”

Now forgive me for being skeptical, but I cant help but think that there will be a major caveat somewhere, I can't believe I can get the Sub and just setup and evaluation environment and play about to my hearts content?

If anybody knows more it would be great. Thanks!

That's correct - for evaluation purposes only as you've mentioned. It may sound too good to be true but you are paying an annual subscription for the privilege.

Well I wouldn't quite say its too good to be true, i think there will most likely be a caveat here or there.

How many times can a License key be activated? and can you have several running at once? (like a VLK)

The caveat is it's for evaluation purposes only. As soon as you stray into using it full time for something, you ought to be paying for real licenses.

All keys are multiple activation keys with no time limits or other restrictions i'm aware of.

That's good, I don't intend to use anything in production, or anything other than evaluating. I have done some further reading and from what I can see its seems that for client OS's you get ten keys that can be activated ten times, and for server OS's you get one key that can be activated 10 times?

Does anybody know any different?

Thanks for the help so far!

Anyone remember the Technet leak a while back, where everyone could sign up for free?

All my keys still work.

I used a 25% off voucher when I bought it a week or two ago. Think I found it while googling - probably a myvouchercodes type site.
