Hi there guys, please can you help me with this problem, recently my character in CoD4 and in HL2:EP2 has been moving on its own, because its happening in two games I find this very strange. At first I thought it was just CoD4, but now I've seen it in HL2:EP2 aswell it makes me think its not the games, I'm going to revert back to some old drivers now because I think I have the latest drivers installed for my graphics card.

I'm using a Sapphire x1950 pro 512mb AGP.

Has anyone else had this problem before? And do you know how to fix it.

For about 4 seconds I lose control of my character and it walks forwards or sideways on its own. its very strange, I dont have a joystick plugged in to the USB either.

Thanks in advance,

But I don't think thats the problem, I dont have any stuck keys?

And I already completed HL2 and CoD4 with no bug, and its been fine for months, this bug just appeared in the last two weeks.

Check batteries in keyboard/mouse (if they have them:p) My keyboard appears stuck on certain keys when the batteries are dying

Make sure your mouse isnt on a strange surface if it is optical/laser. They can track very strangely on odd surfaces even if you dont move the mouse.

Other than that.. not a clue

Have you got any type of joystick or gamepad attached to your machine ? Sometimes, I've found, if you do have one attached, but you don't use it (esp. those with analogue sticks) it overrides the mouse and keyboard commands.

I dont have a joystick plugged in to the USB either.
:o Well, gamepad, then :p

Sounds like an issue I had with most fps's - ut2k4 / hl2 etc. - on my old comp. Would just stop responding to input and go where it wanted, sometimes would cause the keyboard lock beeping sound. I don't think I ever really fixed it, but iirc turning off indexing in windows possibly did help.

mine used to do this, its like it completely locks up from inputs like said above, maybe some sort of IRQ conflict? think mine was down to a CPU overclock malfunctioning or something overheating though.

If your using a Microsoft keyboard with the Intellitype driver software installed it can cause strange problems like this on some setups. I used to have a problem in the orignal half-life (and its mods) where pressing the shift key would cause it to stop responding for a few seconds and as a result you'd glide about.

Solution in the end was to end the intellitype.exe process before gaming... not ideal but it fixed it.

i have found wireless keyboards will do this. microsoft keyboards (ive had a few wireless ones) tend to repeat key presses a dozen times on a weak signal/battery. logitech (again ive had a few) do the opposite and just stop responding. which is infinately more desirable of course:p

How do I disable indexing?

Same thing happens with my wireless keyboard as well.

I dont have a wireless Keyboard mate, its a Logiech keyboard that plugs in with those pins.

UPDATE: Also I dont have my steering wheel, joypad and joystick plugged into the USB. All thats plugged in is my Logitech mouse, DVD Writer & Baracuda Headset.

Thanks in advance,
