Hello all,

Had my car checked out by Essex Saab whilst I was on holiday to make sure the engine and car were sound for the future upgrades.

Anyway, on the report it says

"Rear Shocks Moist" - What does this mean?

Also, "Rear Pads at 2mm approx and offside disc lightly scored" - Firstly, is 2mm low? and what does it mean when the disc is "lightly scored" ?

Theres a few other bits on the report but nothing major

Thanks all :)

EDIT: Just flipped the page over and its got "Both front disks corroded and slightly lipped" - Is this anything to worry about? it had new disc's when it was MOT'd in November.

Rear shocks are leaking, new ones needed.

New rear pads needed - 2mm is real thin, even for back ones :p

new set of rear discs (scoring caused by stones etc and can be an MOT failure) Even though it says minor, might as well change them since they are cheap and new pads are going on.

Cheers dude :)

Forget the shock, sounds like a small leak, let the next mot pick up on it.

Brake wise i would just replace the rear pads and check the discs. I wouldnt bother doing anything with the front's, probably saab being picky.

Ok cool :) - Should I worry about the corrosion? is it major? The brakes are very good on it at the moment.

You'll have to have a look at them mate :p It doesnt go into detail.

I wouldnt worry about it though, just change those rear pads as 2mm is getting quite low. All discs get a bit scored and lipped after a while, if it stops in a straight line and you are getting even brake wear then leave it.

Shocks are a known weak point on the 9-3 iirc, along with DI Cassettes.

DI Cassette was replaced with a known working refurb one, hasn't misfired once, has better throttle response and in general runs like a dream :)
