Hi,

I've been scratching my head with this one for a while so thought I'd pass it by the forum to see if anyone can shed some light on this...

I've switched broadband supplier today and recently installed a network switch and added a previous ISP router as just a WAP.

My new ISP router, is acting as DHCP but I see two MAC addresses very similar in the web ui device list on the ISP router, which seem to relate to the other router in WAP only mode. Would each router have two IP addresses, one for ethernet and one for wireless? I can see that the first of these two MAC addresses relates to the IP address that I set on the WAP but the second MAC which only the first two characters are different to what is printed on the physical router has a different IP address.

2 MAC addresses is usually one for the LAN chipset and 1 for the WLAN chipset. Generally they are 1 character apart.

Thanks, that's what I wondered. The addresses are very similar, just the first and last part is slightly different.
