My local tesco is selling Technika HD freeview boxes for £30, reduced from £60. My Samsung LCD could benefit from some HD channels. Is it worth buying or are Technika rubbish?
Oh, well, I've bought one now, didn't see your reply. It's the Technika STBHDIS2010FVIEW. I'll see how it goes. I get great freeview SD reception here, but if the HD reception is poor or if the machine does funny things like freezing, turning itself off or anything like that, I'll return it.
This machine seems to be a piece of crap. Constantly rebooting itself, going into standby, not responding to remote control presses. These things seem to be confirmed by others on avforums. I'm taking it back and going to try the Humax HD-FOX T2 which is £99. I have to say, the signal strength on the HD channels was never above 57 to 64%, and signal quality fluctuated between 0 and 44%. Maybe that was making it reboot. before rebooting, the display on front of the technika says "CrC" then " boot", then goes into standby. I even lost picture on SD and HD channels earlier tonight, yet sound remained, and I could also get on screen menus.
