From a JVC car radio instruction manual regarding the use of an external USB drive

"This unit can recognize a total of 15,000 files, 500 folders (999 files per folder # including folder without unsupported files), and of 8 hierarchies"

Now,

I get the idea that I can have up to 500 folders (Albums?) on the USB drive with up to 999 files (Songs?) in each folder (Provided the total number of files does not exceed 15,000) IE, the sentence up to the #.

But what does the rest of it mean?

Does it mean that I can have up 8 layers of sub-folders provided I do not exceed the stated file/folder limitations? Or what? And what does the "Including folder without unsupported files" bit mean. I am not even sure that makes grammatical sense let alone anything else?

:p

Yes

.

it means it will count the unsupported files towards the 999 limit even though they are unsupported.

Yes

Thank-you :) I thought I had worked it out but it is nice to have it confirmed.

It is a shame they do not provide a picture of what they mean rather than just a text description.

As Dyslexic, I can "Get" complex systems in a flash just by looking at them. But working out what a verbal description of them means is rather harder.
