Could this be the death of JPEG?.

If this really is as good as the article makes out, it could end up replacing JPEG, RAW and most other photo formats.

Would doubt it, there are much better audio formats that mp3 such as ACC, OGG but the mp3 is stll the king and mp3 now is the generic term for compressed music. Outside of the techies and geeks it will always be mp3, jpg and gifs.
