Technology is suppose to get smaller

Are you prepared to pay the price for "smaller" technology?

I am happy with a 1 meter graphics card as long as it is priced well and performs better than any previous release.

1m gpx card :p id get one if they found a way the make it 'foldable' :D

They did have a choice, buy a big 90nm (or whatever it was 8800) in 2006, or wait for a 65nm 2006 8800 to come out in 2008, the ones who bought the 8800's in November 2006 when they were released didn't care about the size, as they chose not to wait, they bought the bigger ones still in 2006. :p

Being sensible for a second though, no one did have a choice really, as no one knew back then in 2006, that in 2008, Nvidia and AMD would still be churning out the same cards. :)

How do people know that theres going to be smaller ones coming out in 2008?

They didn't, as i edited in above. :p

I think the big thing about the 9800 GTX will be the cooling, as we all know the G92 is one hot chip, and if it thats going to be faster than even the 8800 Ultra, then its going to need some serious cooling, and big. :)

If the 98 series is a refresh of the 8800 series then it would seem this time around ati should have the upper hand. A quote i posted in another thread came form kyle at hardocp who had info stating that it would be multi gpu but not crossfire on a card. Some people are speculating this mean crossfire on a single chip but really thats still crossfire on a card. Be interesting to see what way this works if the info is accurate.

Yeah the R700 is going to be multi-GPU i think, but thats the next gen, doesn't affect Nvidias 98's, as the GT200's are Nvidia's next gen which are going against that, not the 98's. :)

Depends on when they release, if all nvidia have out by the time the r700 hits is refreshed 8800's then the direct comparison to reviewers boils down to who has the fastest card. And i dont see a bit of a core update producing the speed necessary to best an r700.

True, which we saw with the 8800's, they were Nvidia's next gen Dx10 cards, but ATi were still churning out their old Dx9 x1950's then, as their next gens took another 6 months to materialise, i would think they would have the GT200's ready for R700 though, they probably just churning out their 8800's still as ATi still cant better them after all this time, yeah fair enough the X2 has finally taken the speed crown, but its taken nearly 2x years for them to do it, and they've had to slap 2x of their GPU's together to do it, but the 9800 GX2, which is still 2006 8800's will take it back from ATi again in March, so i can see where they are coming from in that sense, why should they replace their 2006 cards with newer ones if they are still the top dogs, its just bloody crap for us, as its us who are suffering. :(

Which is why i said **** this crap now and gave up with it all, been dead for nearly 2 years now, absolute rubbish, the funs been taken out of it now, fair enough the 9800's will be faster, but they are still 2006 8800's, not much fun in that.
