Michigan teenager Alex Ostrovsky didn't realize that when he downloaded Coldplay's "Speed of Sound" from iTunes he was buying the one-billionth song sold from the service since it started three years ago.

The 16-year-old got a 20-inch iMac, a $10,000 iTunes gift card and 10 fifth-generation iPods from Apple for his lucky click. The company is also establishing a Julliard School of Music scholarship in Ostrovsky's name.

The popularity of iTunes is also reflected in declining CD sales, with sales dropping by nearly 150 million from 2001 to 2005.

Me -
I never thought Coldplay would be good for anything.

The shame of all this is that everybody is going to know that he downloaded and paid for Coldplay. He will have to live with that for the rest of his life. We'll probably hear a report that he hit the wrong tune and was really after Coal Chamber or something close alphabetically.
