Just saw this, not got a release date yet but i hope its soon. Wonder if this is a forerunner to see how well online works for Tekken 6?

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has details on Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection with online versus play! With the cost of 2800 Yen(1000 Yen if you already downloaded the old version of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection) you will be able to play FREE online versus matches with people all over the world! There will also be an online leaderboard that keeps track of player rankings! Also added will be practice and survival modes! There is no official release date for the upgraded version of T5DR, but be rest assured that SD TEKKEN will keep you posted! For more info and article pictures, click below!

All in all here is what is included in the new version:

* Online VS Mode Play Added
* Online Rankings Added
* Practice Mode Added
* Survival Mode Added

Think 1000 yen is about 4 pounds, and the whole game if you haven't got it downloaded is about 12 pounds. Well worth it with all the new parts its nearly the full game.

AMAZING!!!!!

Now that is a title update and a half!!!

4 quid + the original 7 means for 11 pounds you are getting the best beat em up ever, online!!!!

That is a nice updated indeed. :D
I used to love playing Marvel vs Capcom over Kailera with my m8, used to give him such beatings. :p
Hopefully they can get good netcode and have no problems with latency and such.
As for best beat em up ever, dream on.

Well it is the best series imo.

I only have it on PSP and can't comment on the PS3 version. It's good although I have a serious disliking for the PSP controls and Im sure a PS3 pad would give me a better experience, but Tekken 2 is still my favourite of the series. :D
I just wouldn't give it the highest accolade of Greatest Beat'em Up Ever. :p

What game would that get then ?

Better not be some obscure fighting game that nobody's ever heard of, just so that you can revel in your 'superior' fighting game knowledge - I've seen that far too much in Tekken vs the world debates.

Tell us then :p

I don't know which game I would give the accolade to even if I was the govenrning body of "Greatest Beat'em Up Ever". :D But I do know I wouldn't award it to Tekken 5 DR. :p

Most my fun with those games came from when I enjoyed coin-op games with my friends, be it Street Fighter II, MKII, KOF or Marvel vs Capcom and so on.

Hmm gonna really have to think which one is my favourite now. :D
Tekken 2 is still my favourite of the series, which I rate higher than 5, but sometimes rose tinted specs make you remember things better than what they currently are. :)

a bit more info from IGN
US, June 19, 2007 - Last week IGN reported that the latest issue of Japanese rag Famitsu revealed that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection would be updated with online components. Today Namco Bandai confirmed this news to be true for gamers in the U.S., as well, and clarified the various new features to be injected into the fighting game.

For the first time in Tekken's history the game will be playable online. Several new modes are being added to the game: Opti Match, Quick Match, Custom Match, and Friend Match. While waiting in a lobby, players can view the current bout and study their opponent's techniques. Voice chat will be available so you don't have to call up your buddy in Albuquerque to gloat.

Single-player content is being added, too: a Practice Mode and Survival Mode, in which players take on opponents one after another without regenerating their health. The update, officially called Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online, will be available later this year for $9.99.

Just read (well translated) from French Gaming site that Japan will get the online update on 30th June, no news on a US/EU release date but hope fully shouldn't be to much longer.

I haven't got this game yet I might get it today, worth the money I take it?

Been years since I've played Tekken, number 3 was a masterpiece. :cool:

Yep its a bargain, I loved 3 too but didn't like 4.

thinking about getting this, im starting to grow bored of my current games. Im not a big fan of beat em up games, i remember i used to play tekken 2 all the time, and also mortal kombat deadly alliance and stuff, but there the only 2 ive ever liked. Not sure if its worth it, but for how cheap it is, theres no harm in trying it.
