Telephone interview for accounting.

Do the whole interview completely naked, because you can.

On a more serious note: Try and be friendly, people take phone interviews way too seriously. Every interview i've had, i try to start with a bit of general chit chat and to try and make the interviewer laugh. If they can relate to you, you're 70% of the way there already.

Write down what answers you give briefly so you don't repeat examples in the next stage.

Have in front of you questions you plan to ask so you don't forget.

I found it helpful to have info about the company in front of me as well.

Wear a suit.

No, I'm being serious. Studies have shown wearing suits/ being dressed for work makes us feel more confident, more professional and able to think on our feet. Even over the phone that's going to be a benefit to you.

Even when I was studying I wore a suit during the daytime because it's a separation between casual me and working me, if you catch my drift. Wearing a suit? Got my working mind and way of doing things, wearing my jeans and such? Time to act like an idiot.

I've heard the suit advice before, apparently it works.

I've managed to pass every face to face interview I've had, but also managed to fail every telephone interview.

So I probably communicate a lot with my stunningly good looks, and my body language etc... Remember that these won't come across when you are on the phone, so make sure to articulate everything as clearly as you can.

Make sure you have a quiet place for the call to take place, but other than that I don't have any more advice. Good luck!

Suit thing does work

Also remember it's a telephone interview but doesn't mean you'll just be speaking to one person, there's a good chance there will be a couple, more like a teleconference.
