Telephone wiring question...

I need to get a second line installed (one with a different number).

The BT phone overhead cable comes in at the front of the house and the room which needs the point is at the back.

I would rather do the wiring myself as I will do a neater job.

What would be the best thing for me to do?

ask the engineer to put the new master socket next to the existing one and run an extension from it?

If you're having a second line installed a BT engineer will have to visit to fit the second NTE5 ; if you have a semi or detatched house get him to run the line around the outside of the house then in through the wall/window frame to the room at the back.

That's what I thought of doing.

VOIP is not an option as if the Telewest connection goes then I'm screwed and I cannot have an 0117 Bristol number

I did ask a different question about phone wiring the other week.
