Telewest Latency Problems

A Few weeks back we changed over from Eclipse boradband (ADSL) over to a Telewest package (2mb net + tv + phone)
Haven't really palyed a whole lot of online games since getting it except for GTL, which handles ping different (all client side)
I was playing some UT2004 earlier and the best ping I could get to any server was around 70, so I tried a few other games all showing similar results.
Next test was pinging google.com from command prompt, quickest response was 120ms.....

Its not just my computer either, the whole house is like it, I have tried connecting directly to the net avoiding the router, but still have the same problems.

Am I missing something here? Or is there something wrong with my internet?

The best thing for everyone to see is your trace routes. Open up command prompt and type

tracert google.com
tracert bbc.co.uk

etc.

Then we will see if its a problem locally or outwith blueyonder's control.

Not the best one to use since google.com resolves to numerous different addresses so it'll be hard to compare traces from different people.

I usually do a trace to jolt.co.uk.
 
Ignore the trace to google (see my earlier post) and to overclockers as a router (or server) between you and overclockers is blocking ICMP so your trace is breaking.

The trace to bbc.co.uk looks absolutely fine though.

You mentioned that your ping to google.com was aroung 120ms, that's fine. Considering that google.com is on the other side of the water then 120ms is pretty good.
