Was just wondering if anyone has this yet.
Seems to me like sky+ with a fre extras.
I am getting it installed on Thursday and was wondering if anyone had good experiences of it.

it is an extra £10 per month.
As far as I can see it is hdtv ready has a 180 gig hard drive and can record 2 programes at the same time whilst watching a third.
You have to subscribe to telewest's supreme package at £17.50 per month with £10 phone line and for me £25 braodband connection.

Hi

I got this installed on Thursday. I have found it to be really goo. As you say it is just like Sky + and I havent had any problems with it so far. I dont have an HDTV at present so cant comment on the HDTV stuff but it is HDTV ready-it has an HDMI socket on the rear. There are a few threads about it along with some pics on the Digital Spy forum if you want some more info.

You can get the box along with any Digital TV package but if you are not on Supreme then it's £15 a month. If your an exsisiting customer its £50 for install or free if you agree to keep your exsisting box and move it to another room, this costs an extra £5 a month.

New customers get free install.

Mines being installed on the 18th March. It has Component and HDMI, although in the future not all the stuff will work through component :( Theres limited HD content atm, only a few programs through Teleport but apparently they are totally stunning. I'm more interested in the recording features tbh atleast until HD takes off more.

You can get free install if you agree to have your current box in another room for an extra £5 per month (12 months min), which sounds good to me tbh.

None of this £300 for a new box.

I managed to get a free install.
Just telephone and speak to disconnections. Tell them you would like to subscribe but with the £50 installation fee it would be cheaper to get sky. Worked for me.
I was also near the end on another 12 month contract so that might have helped.
Looking forward to getting it now.

NTL will launch their own PVR sometime this year.

Features include:
  • MPEG-4 part 10/H.264 compression
  • High-definition (HD) television
  • Three video tuners
  • Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem
  • Internal SATA 160GB Hard Drive
  • IP Multi-Room™ PVR Capability via second Ethernet port

Got TVdrive instaled yesterday.

So far I am very impressed with it Teleport had a few progs that are in HD format and they are fantastic. The clarity is very good.

I was a but surprised that it took 3 guys 40 mins to install it. All they did was remove the old box and plug the new one in. The all said that they had been given no training in how these new boxes work so I guess the just wanted to play.

For some reason they are not able to plug the hdmi lead in and you have to do it yourself.

I have one question about connectivity. The box had an optical output and the standare left right output. If I link these three to my home cinema setup will I be able to get 5.1? Also does anyone know if any thing is currently broadcast in 5.1?

yes thats what it looks like.

Have been experimenting and playing this evening. Picture quality is fine for hdtv progs however scart or coponent is best for normal viewing of non hdtv.
Impressed by the recording facility and also the pause and rewind stuff. Yes I know sky have had it a long time but im still impressed.

Well you are renting it

Thats true but whats the point of 'buying' the Sky box when if you dont pay the extra they dont let you use it. My Mum has Sky+ she stopped her DD's and Sky stopped all her freeview stuff and disabled the recording function, so much for owning a Sky+ box eh?

Teleport is apparently getting Sin City (and another film I cant remember which) next week too

World Cup HD seems like it's gonna happen too!
