Telewest TVDrive

I don't have it, but checking out what it can do it is very similar to sky+, which I do have.

If so, you will absolutely love it. I really can't imagine my viewing life without that kind of equipment..

have fun

thats just it... i wanted sky+ but didnt want to change all my services.

tv drive has three tuners and 160gb hdd as standard as well as HD capability.

so you can record 3 channels and watch another. ff and rw and pause live tv as with sky+

now im going to end up buying a new tv screen if i can pursuade the missus! lol

shouldnt that be record 2 and watch 1.?

I'll just copy and paste what I wrote in the other thread

I got my TVDrive installed today, First on the list at 8:20 this morning! lucky I was first because my box was faulty so I have the next customers box. He only had 2 jobs and 2 boxes anyway...

It works great, menus are faster and the recording features are nice.

I dont know if Sky+ has this but it has a 'record series' function when it will auto record any eps in that series, it's quite clever too, the girlfriend likes Charmed, it's on constantly throughtout the day/night, they are all mixed up between different seasons, the latest season is on Thursday nights so she chose the series and it asked if she only wanted to record season 8 eps. It also has a 'skip back 8secs function'

Been watching a few HD eps through Teleport, they are pretty nice from what I've read some have been upconverted to HD spec whereas 'Pride' is proper HD, it looks stunning.

It does have a few issues which are being resolved:
1) When HDMI is plugged in sometimes the image is not centre (can only be adjusted if your TV has adjustment)
2) In Component/HDMI some channels/programs are only 4:3 and doesnt auto stretch but does when scart is used
3) Optical sound currently only uses 2 channels not proper 5.1

It's still early days and I'm sure it will all be resolved asap.

Well, technically speaking you can record three programmes and watch something off the HDD. I'm pretty sure that's possible with Sky+ :)

Does anyone know if NTL will be releasing a similar product, or if NTL and Telewest will be merging their networks to allow eachother to offer their products over both networks any time in the distant future?
