Hey everyone!

We come with news, and we really do want your opinions.

So, a local AORUS enthusiast and military buff came to us with an idea. We loved the idea and thought it would be pretty cool, so check out what we created together.

VmpZqSL.jpg

Is this something you guys would like see in the future. Possibly limited edition, etc. We’d like your feedback. If you play FPS and War Games please spread the news through your own communities

  • Do you like it? ;)

  • Do you hate it? :(

  • If you love it and want it, which model would you most like to see X3, X5 or X7?

  • Are there other ideas about designs/colors you have? Let us know!

We have already posted this on our social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), but in our opinion OcUK forums have some of our most enthusiastic customers. We’d love to hear your opinions.

IF YOU DEFINITLEY WANT THIS DESIGN - EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST HERE AND EMAIL US DIRECTLY; [email protected]

As always thanks for your support and we look forward to reading your posts!

Regards,

Team AORUS

Looks cool but kind of limited in terms or who and where you can pull the look off - while very much not its intended audience I wouldn't walk into a business meeting with something looking like that heh.

For laptops I've always liked under-stated designs where the real beauty is most apparent on closer inspection - subtle bevels, recessed features, etc. real craftsmanship to the details without being overly "shouty".

Hi Rroff,

Thanks for feedback and agree this wouldn't be an appropriate design for a business meeting, although I guess it would be a conversation point!

Team AORUS

Do you like it?
Yeah i always like alternative designs :D

Do you hate it?
Only if it does not provide me with cookies

Would love to see a Mario one and on the keys a mario character on each one XD

Im not personally to keen on this! Though i can see a market for it :) I would not want to be " that guy " who shows up with the camo laptop at a work meeting. I like subtle designs really so this is a bit powerful for me! I would love to see a carbon version with a few subtle silver accents on it.

If it is camo enough you can sit and play CS:GO and they won't even notice.

Was never a fan of the military theme or adding ammo cartridges to mobos..etc but I'm sure there is a market for it somewhere.

Sleek and discrete for me personally.

Good on you for seeking feedback and suggestions though

Hi

Thanks for your views guys, this is exactly what we wanted to see, gathering views and opinions, enabling you to have an input into our design process.

We knew for sure that this design would split opinion and be a "Marmite" situation,,,, but this is why we came to OcUK to canvass opinion.

Really good to hear from all and we will post more specific replies to some of the posts later on.

Thanks again, please keep 'em coming and spread the thread to others who you know will have an opinion!

Regards,

Team AORUS.

I like the idea of white or silver camo, I think that effect could look really professional/military at the same time. Would be great to see a mock up of this. :)

Thanks 5UB,,,

We have many ideas and snow camo we think would also look awesome.

Not my cup of tea if I'm honest; just seems like its catering to a "tacticool" type of crowd - if I were to pull it out my kit bag, I'd think I'd be abit embarrassed. Why not go with something different like a unique artwork / modernist approach rather than shrink wrapping it.

I think it looks disgusting and is a pathetic attempt to look 'Army' for a childish consumer base that thinks playing CoD makes them certified SAS troopers.

But that's just the impression I personally get from the appearance. :p

I really don't like that pattern (prefer good old British DPM) and I don't think it looks anything like military kit. Just a normal laptop with a paint job... or sticker set, even.

I'd much rather have a laptop styled on the modern GRiDCASE products (which actually *are* military issue lappies) and built to at least look like they would be used by soldiers.

Hi both,

Of course the design isn't going to appeal to everyone, and yes it would be marketed to the FPS / War Gamer that would find this appealing. The actual pattern is "genuine" military design known as "MULTICAM" and we have to have a licence to use it - so 100% it IS an actual military design, so is in line with other military kit.

The process is a hand crafted print process, not sticker or skin / vinyl.

Thanks for your views guys, appreciated.

looks awesome but only if its priced correctly, I wouldn't pay a premium for it over a normal boring looking laptop.

Hi BaNksY.....

It will be priced correctly :D

We think there should be an amusing reference to correctly priced artwork considering your name,,,

Thanks

Sorry in advance for the really bad photoshop work :D ( I am not good at this stuff ) But i wanted to give you a idea of what i was saying earlier with the carbon and silver but lack the skill or time to do a good one :D but you will get the idea i think/hope :D

If you want me to remove the image for any company related things just let me know :D

EDIT : If i actually owned a AORUS laptop i think i would consider trying to make something along the lines of ^ but ofc a lot tidier ect. Shame i don't have one :D Though it is on my books!

Good skills harry5522!

Thanks for taking time to do this, its appreciated and we see your idea clearly now.

All ideas are open for discussion with our design team and this style has been mentioned, so its good to see you are thinking the same as us :-)

Thanks again,

Team AORUS

Love the design / look of it, wouldn't have any issues taking it to meetings and whatnot if nothing else a conversation starter.

:D:eek::cool::)

Wont suit every corporate occasion for sure, but nice to hear from someone who could use it as a business machine.

Eve Online

You could do a range of them, One for each faction?

Rifter / Merlin etc
or
Battle ship Scheme, Frigate Scheme, Battle Cruiser Theme?

Yup, we think the possibilities are quite exciting and numerous !

Team AORUS

love the design:)
I would like to see X5 and X7 so there is a top spec and more affordable versions avalible to more people.

I wouldn't mind a design similar to the Ka Bar knife zombie range. I think it was lime green with a bio hazard symbol. May be the stealth version mentioned higher up in the article.

TBH i think most of the gaming community would be happy with a good theme so long as you could market it at a game type.

Thanks Almightyliham,

We are considering everything at the moment, and all ideas will be in the melting pot,,, thanks for your input and look out for the first X5 model in this design announced with OcUK soooooon

My opinion is:

- It is too generically themed to have any appeal
- Is that a vinyl wrap or a professional paint job?
- I don't like it as I prefer elegant designs
- Maybe if it had some association with a major AAA game then it would have greater selling power

Hi Twirlywoos,

Thanks for your input.

The design is a hand applied print process, not a wrap.

Team AORUS

I suppose a limited run in a pattern like this would be a good idea. I'd personally think about doing it in a similar way to how Filco do coloured versions of their keyboards. I have a limited production camouflaged TKL of theirs, but they also sell blue, beige (white) and red cased versions.

But how wouldn't it be appropriate for a business meeting? Stick it on the desk, no-one will see it, Netflix on, slacking level 9000!

:cool::eek::cool::D:D

:D No problem, i often have troubles clearly explaining things thus it's commonly easier for me to do a really vague doodle or a rough photoshop to manipulate my thoughts into something visible.

It's nice to see design teams embracing customer ideas definitely sets some companies apart from the crowd that is for sure.

Thanks :D

Harry

A pictures worth a 1,000 words :-)

Thanks again for the positive feedback:)

IMO, it's up there with a cheap plastic toy soldier helmet that has speakers in, marketed as being designed specifically for CoD.
IIRC, ^that one took off about as well as Nintendo's Robotic Operating Buddy...

As a gamer who plays a number of military FPSes, as well as being a former soldier myself, it's not something that appeals to me.

While the pattern may well be a military one, the laptop is still just a laptop.
Most military tech hardware is not actually painted in a Cam pattern anyway, but you also have the added difficulty in limiting yourself to just the one pattern out of many. If you were able to offer a range of patterns to choose from, that might increase interest...

But painting a Ford Escort in DPM/ACU/MTP/DigiCam/ERDL would not make it a military *design* of car and the same is true here.
That's why I suggested a revision of the actual build design, citing the actual GRiDCASE military laptops as one example.
As another example, the Corsair C70 is a step toward a military theme someone like me *would* consider buying... and to be honest I very nearly did buy one of those!

Sorry if these seems negative - I am trying to be constructive, though! ;)

Hi ttaskmaster

We certainly dont beleive this will appeal to every single FPS player, as you have proved :-)

Neither are we trying to imply that with CAMO design the laptop is suddenly battlefield ready ( in the virtial sense maybe, but not on an actual front line!). The MULTICAM pattern is a genuine military design, this is what we were stating, sorry if that wasnt clear.

We are simply trying to offer something unique to a customer base that we beleive wants a degree of indiviuality with their kit.

We take all feedback constructively, no matter how "negative" it may seem on the surface, it's still valuable to us, so thanks for your input and sharing your views.
