Hi guys,

Getting far too complex Googling the differences!

I'm looking at getting an XF soon, the 3.0D S 271BHP one.

The question is, what is the main differences between the different trim levels available, and also, what are the good options to try and go for?

Cheers,

Mal

There's a Jag owners thread that would be a good place to post, so all the right people see it

But I'm not entirely sure on what's standard on each of the trim levels, mines a Luxury but has a lot of the options you get standard on a premium luxury. But options that are worth going for are the reverse camera (gives you front sensors too), the 320W audio upgrade at a minimum as the standard is garbage, heated front screen is useful and finally the xenon lights if you can, as the standard headlights aren't the best :p

Basic Spec for the PL is

Six-speed automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift™ and JaguarDrive Selector™
- Jaguar Drive Control™ with Winter mode
- Cruise control with Automatic Speed Limiter
- Rear parking aid with on-screen guidance
- 19" Caravela Alloy Wheels (Diesel)
- 20" Senta Alloy Wheels (Diesel S)
- 20" Selena Alloy Wheels (V8)
- Heated powerfold door mirrors and auto-dimming rear-view mirror
- Automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers
- Jaguar Smart Key System™ with Keyless Start
- 10/10 way power-adjustable heated front seats with memory function
- Heated front windscreen
- Navigation system
- Folding rear seats with 60/40 split
- Softgrain leather seats, instrument panel and door top rolls
- Automatic climate control
- Phosphor blue internal lighting
- Full-colour 7" Touch-screen
- Jaguar 320W premium sound system with CD player
- Bluetooth®
- Choice of three colourways for the interior

Where the basic for the Luxury is

Six-speed automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift™ and JaguarDrive Selector™
- Jaguar Drive Control™ with winter mode
- Cruise control with Automatic Speed Limiter
- Navigation system
- Rear parking aid with on-screen guidance
- 18" Venus alloy wheels (diesel models)
- 19" Artura alloy wheels) diesel S model)
- Automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers
- Jaguar Smart Key System™ with Keyless Start
- Power-adjustable front seats
- Folding rear seats with 60/40 split
- Bond grain leather on seat facings
- Automatic climate control
- Phosphor blue internal lighting
- Full-colour 7" Touch-screen
- Jaguar sound system with CD player
- Bluetooth®
- Choice of three colourways for the interior

So the differences are

Leather is upgraded
Heated seats
Keyless entry
Upgraded Stereo
Folding door mirrors
Heated screen
Auto Dimming rear view mirror.

So not a huge difference. And most Luxurys will have most of those differences covered anyway like mine (makes you wonder why they didn't just get a PL in the first place)

The minimum spec I'd go for would be the PL with reversing camera. If its an S which the 271 bhp cars are then I'd also want the sports interior as the seats are a massive improvement.

I've been looking for an XF I'd get a Premium Luxury or if a Portfolio was available then that one.

I wouldn't bother with the others though, the 2 above are the trims to go for

Thank you very much guys. Looks like the PL on is the way to go then. I've not seen that many portfolio models when I've been looking too.

Thanks for that list Steedie :)

So depending on that you could end up with a MY10, MY10.5 or MY11 car, most probably the MY10 or 10.5. The sports interior on the S wasn't standard on those cars and was a £1,000 ish option, I'd also try to find a car with the B&W 440w stereo upgrade as it also includes the USB/Ipod connections and DAB, both worthwhile upgrades along with sound quality upgrade. The camera is an absolute must as it includes the front sensors as well and the XF is a bugger to park due to its size and not being able to really see the nose or the boot.

Thanks very much for the advice! Will add those bits to my list :)

Do you think £20k ish is a reasonable amount for a decent one or should at slightly more?
