Popped down a garage today with a friend who is after a focus and there was a 3 door 1.8 TDCi (115ps). Obviously I want a 3 door focus as my next car so I test drove it an all. I have to say I was extremely impressed by it's performance, the torque and how a lot more comfortable it was than mine. It was a zetec but it had leather seats and 17" ford alloys. Well I think they were 17".

It was up on the forecourt for £4k, had FSH, 1 owner and 125,000 miles on the clock.

Is a 2003 52 plate 125,000 mile Focus TDCi going to remain realiable or will it gradually fall apart?

Thanks.

At that mileage it's probably spent most of its life on the motorway. If the general condition is good, suspension feels firm and solid, no clunks/vibrations when cornering hard or over rough surfaces, clutch doesn't slip, gearbox is nice and slick and the service history is impeccable it might be worth a shot. You'll never sell it on though. I'd be looking to haggle a little too.

Would it be better to put the £4k on an Focus Petrol then?

The spec on this TDCi was rather good. Full leather, electric everything,ABS etc.
