Recently got myself an i3 (Clarkdale) as part of an overclocked bundle from ocuk (see sig for spec)
Using AS5 as TIM but according to coretemp core #1 is around 10 degrees higher.....
Cos its a direct heatpipe cooler I got some TIM uinto the 'grooves' on the base of the cooler, where it would be touching the CPU and a blob directly onto the CPU.

Where am I going wrong??

It is very rare to get all cores working at the same temperature. What you normally find is core 0/Core 1 will generally be hotter than the others because they are being used most for single threaded applications.

If your PC is idle (no activity) and you still have a 10c difference you may want to re-mount the cooler.
