Hi all,

I'm looking at building my first water cooling loop and think I really should have a temp probe in it, considering probes such as this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/monsoon-premium-g-1-4-temp-plug-black-chrome-wc-138-mo.html would do the job, but I realise I have no headers on the motherboard I'm planning to buy (MSI MEG x570 Unify) which can accommodate this.

How is everyone else connecting temp probes? I've read about fan hubs but I cant find any that are not crazy prices and then I don't understand how the temp info gets fed to the motherboard.

Maybe over complicating this and confusing myself! Help!!

They dont connect to fan headers on mobo. On my Gigabyte Aorus Master there are two separate, 2 pin connectors for the temperature sensors. I went for this one which I have connected on the outlet of my last radiator on return to water pump. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aqua-computer-temperature-sensor-g1-4-wc-119-aq.html. I have had no issues with that sensor, irrespective of the poor review it was given and I would give it a 5 star rating.

If you can still buy them, the XSPC LCD shows the temperature from a 10K sensor.

Otherwise you'll have to shell out for a much more expensive unit or get a different motherboard.

It does seem a little 2018 that a motherboard has 17 different RGB headers but no external temperature header.

I went with an alternate motherboard - Asus crosshair VIII Hero WiFi (overpriced but ticks all the options I wanted), the monsoon sensor linked in the first post should anyone be interested won’t fit this board due to the probe having a MASSIVE plug and there not being enough room between headers on the motherboard. I’m going to try to cut the plug down to fit, most of its unnecessary plastic, I’m not sure if the probe needs to go on in any particular orientation but I figure as it’s simply a resister so it doesn’t matter...
