Temp readings and G0 steppings

Can we try to sort this out once and for all as it's bugging me.

Can any temp readings be trusted on G0 processors? Coretemp is reading well below what it should be IMO, idling at or below room temperature which is obviously impossible. It's been speculated that it's underreading to the tune of 15C but this hasn't been confirmed.

My E6850 is currently running at 48C under load at 3.6Ghz/1.37v according to Coretemp which would mean it's actually running at 63C if the 15C error is to be believed - seems rather hot to me?

Does anyone know a guaranteed way to get the correct temperatures from one of these things as it's driving me nuts - can't overclock with confidence if you don't know how hot the damn thing is :)
