Temperature advice.

I am a first time builder. Just built using phenom2 X3 720BE and a gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P AM3 motherboard. Arctic cooling 7 pro. All going well so tried overclocking after reading these helpful forums. Overclocked to 3.4 using x17 multiplier and stress testing with OCCT software as recommended in this forum somewhere. This software tells me idle temperature is around 26 degrees but going into bios settings tells me cpu temperature is 39 degrees. If someone can explain these differences to me that would be great. Thanks for any advice.

have you flashed the latest BIOS?

No I haven't. Will that affect the issue I was describing? Everything was working v fast & smooth so didnt think I would have to but if you think it should be done I could give it a try.

Thanks for pointing me to that. I'll try another software temp monitor too and do a comparison. Thanks for help.
