Hi there,

Just been messing around with my overclock and I seem to have some temperature disparities which I didn't notice before (probably because it was freezing in here when I last checked).

For my CPU AMD Overdrive and Everest are both reporting idle temperatures in the high 40's and load temperatures as high as 62-63. However... with pc probe, idle temperatures are 43, 54 under load and if I look in the bios, the idle temperature is reported as being 38-39 which is close to the pc probe readings.

I have pretty good airflow (neat cabling, 2 front intake fans, 2 fans blowing out (one at the rear, and a larger one up top) and nothing else in the system seems warm (mobo temp is 32 when the machine is under load) with the exception of my 4850, but that sits around 70 which seems normal.

I'm at a loss as to which temperatures to believe, I've always favoured the bios over monitoring programs in the past but there's quite a difference here so I wondered what you guys though.

Hmm, I'll certainly try reseating the cooler. Cool n quiet is disabled. The overclock so far is 2.8Ghz, I've nudged up the htref to 210 and increased the multi to 13.5. It's all running at stock voltages and is stable after several hours of testing.

I doubt I'll get as low as the 30's on air though as this is a 140w chip.

So after a reseat things are a little cooler, around 4 degrees although I expect this to improve after a few days use. I think my problem is a mix of a warm room (I get afternoon sun on the window for a good 5 hours) and the 140w tdp of the cpu.

At least for now the temps are low enough that I can keep my overclock, not had anything above 60 yet.
