Temperature for an i7 @ 4Ghz?

Just curious to know what is an acceptable temp for an i7 cpu running at 4Ghz?

Load and idle temps would be great.

Under stress 80c and lower is good.

Idle in the 30s would be about right under air.

Mine idles around 34
and upto 54 stressing with prime 95
thats using water.

it does depend on which i7 you have.
80 or below is considered good for the newer i7s. idle around 35-45 is good on air.

I always have my processors downclocked (c1state etc) when idle so you could do that if you want.

Idle at 36 on highest core, 64 under prime load, 4ghz with air cooling.

bloomfields need to be under 80'C ideally
gulftowns need to be under 65'C ideally

Idle @ 37C and
Stressed @ 71C

with ThermoLab Barum Cooler and HAF 922 Case.

My X5550 (more or less the same as the i7 920), runs at 50C idling, going up to 92C when stressed, like benchmarks or rendering with both processors. Got two more years warranty left, so fingers crossed nothing happens
