Temperature monitoring, DFI SLI-DR

I seem to struggling to find working programs to monitor temperatures on a DFI UT NF4 SLI-DR board with a Opty 170.

NVidia Monitor - Works OK
(Something) Guard (came on motherboard cd) - Works OK
Motherboard Monitor - Abruptly reboots system when run
SpeedFan - Abruptly reboots systems when run
SiSoft Sandra - Abruptly reboots systems when you access the section that reports the temperatures

Any clues as to why this is the case?

Well the only thing i can suggest is buying something with a physical temperature sensor, i.e. one of those drive bay jobbies. Of coarse this will probably mean taking your HSF off the CPU so the sensor can be fitted properly.
