Hi guys

Just installed my new Q9650. everything seems to be running smoothly. Didnt have to re-install windows which was good and cpu z and task manager recognise the new quad e.t.c.

Running coretemp and all 4 cores are showing 25/26 idle. Havent stressed it yet as i want to make suretemps are ok by checking the temps with more thermal monitors. I have been out of the game for a year or so, so what are the best and most up to date ones? I want to get overclocking soon aswell so what are the best stress test programs these days? I use to run 20 hours or so of orthos as a test. Is this still good?

Using XP by the way and it's a Q9650 on a P35c DSR3 motherboard

edit: oops seen the tsicky. Is it up to date tho?

Would like to get near 4ghz or as near as my motherboard will let me. How hot can i let these thing go under load? I'm guessing not much over 60?

Oh also. with the case closed im getting readings on coretemp and hwmonitor of 29,28,28,29 idle. IS this likely to go doen a little as the thermal paste beds in?

OCZ ultra 5+

doing a prime blend test at 3600mhz at the mo

temps are 47,44,44,44 apporx

been going for 30 mins

You guys reckon i iwll be able to push for 4ghz if this remians stable? What v-core should i up it to?

well i havent changed it from stock (what the motherboard intially set it at)

Failry big v droop i think as CPUz and HWmonitor show it as 1.168v ish

Ok, finding it hard to stay stable above 3.6.

What sort of vcore will i need to raise it to get it stable at 4ghz?

hm well. i am in windows at 1.325 ( though with v droop its reoprting 1.280) @ 440x9 (3.96 ghz)

idle temps are 34,34,34,34.

need to run prime to tests. If it doesnt work what would you recommend? New ram? Mine is only 800mhz so pushing it to 890 might be the problem. Or should i up the vcore a little more?
