First off this is the card I have...
http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/EAH6970_DCII2DI4S2GD5/

I'm currently having a problem with some of my games on and off...After about a few hours, Maybe like 2 or 3...I get this weird like glitching? noise and my screen starts to flicker in places and such...
I looked on GPU-Z and my card is running at about 70c on idle and running up to like 90c and higher on games, Then it starts to just do what I just explained...

Any other people had this problem?

i have tried blowing it out, Ridding my card/computer of dust, but I do that like every 2 weeks or so anyway, It's all clean...

Thank in advance guys!

Andy.

Oh not good :\

Can you think of any cheap-ish alternatives? Obviously I don't want to lose too much power but I'm willing to downgrade a little if needs be, Not a good time to be needing to replace my card haha.

Thanks, Andy.

Before i splashed out on a new card i'd be checking that the mount hasn't been moved between the gpu and heatsink,
if your up for it, i would first remove the gpu shroud(give it a hoovering/brush) and replace the thermal paste.

If your still getting high temps after that then it's not looking good :(
Maybe try wiping your drivers clean and a fresh driver install as a last resort.

Ok will do, thanks a lot...
Any suggestions on cards just in case though?
Just thinking about not having to repost if all doesn't go well...

Thanks a lot guys!

Andy.

Make sure you don't have that bitcoin virus. Also you stated 70c idle but never said what the gpu usage was reading in gpu-z. Make sure it is actually idle. If all that seems good then give the card a good clean and replace the TIM. Also if you're running some overclocking software on the gpu remove it for now and make sue all is back to defaults on the gpu eg. clocks and any volts you may have increased.

This is a picture of the screen and all the info sitting in idle...

Bitcoin virus? Anything I can do to check?

Thanks.

Ok just did a clean install of the drivers, Still saying/doing the same thing in AMD Overdrive, Should I try stopzilla just in case?

Malware or virus?

Edit: Just tried to run StopZilla twice...Both times it froze out my computer at like 10%?

Thanks again guys...Thinking of just waiting till tomorrow and trying to replace the paste...

Anything else?

Thanks so much again...

I've only fresh installed not long ago...Probably about 1 week ago or so...Would I of had to of ran a miner to get a mining virus?? :S

Going to try Malwarebytes now...

Think it's going to be better to leave it here till I replace the paste tomorrow unless anyone else has any suggestions, Thanks guys!

The only games I download are honestly only from Steam/Origin or anything like that...i play about 3 games and that's it...
I just ran Malwarebytes, It found 10 threats but did not make a difference sadly...? :(

Stopzilla just makes my computer freeze out sadly :S

Thanks!!

I appreciate all the help!

Edit: yes I will definitely be replacing the paste tomorrow, Little late to do it now and don't have any sitting around sadly...
Yes running 2 monitors, Sometimes 3 if I ever need to/want to show anything on my tv...

Thanks!

It has been doing it for about 2 days maybe...Never had any problems with it before, Will try booting into safe mode now and get back to you guys :)

Thanks.

For some reason AB or CCC won't show anything in safe mode? :S Maybe I'm doing something wrong...?

But I see a lot of people suggesting the strip down and apply new paste...maybe that's my problem...Hopefully...!

Thanks for sticking with me after all this...haha.

Andy.

This is almost identical to an issue I was having with my 680 - idle temps of around 70 showing 0% gpu usage. I even posted a topic here titled something like unusual overheating issue. I fixed mine after a lot of trial and error by installing new nvidia driver via a custom install option as a completely new install replacing any prior settings.

I have a strong hunch this is a virus or software issue for the topic creator and that replacing thermal paste won't improve anything. I think it's an advanced bitcoin virus that falsely shows 0% gpu usage to divert people's attention from it.

Anyway my pc is back to normal now and I did'nt have to reinstall windows or apply thermal paste. My advice is to run malwarebytes and unistall any gpu drivers completely before trying a clean install of the drivers to see if that helps at all.

I've tried to run Malwarebytes and it came up with nothing, I'm going to try the thermal paste first...if that doesn't help I will just do a fresh install.

Thanks again.

Edit: Ok just finished getting the card put back together with new paste on, It's now idling at 50c ish...
Massive improvement in my opinion...

Anything else I can do?

Thanks guys!

change TIM - check
Clean dust in case ?
Make sure your airflow is good?
When you changed the TIM did you do it too thick/thin and did you screw the heatsink on nice and tight?
Check both fans are actually running?

Check all them, I seem to be having no problems now, Seems it was just the TIM that needed changing, You guys did a great job, Thanks for all the help! :D

Much appreciated, Andy.
