why is it that I can't monitor the CPU temperature? I have tried 3 different applications and non of them are recognizing any temperature readings!! but on the other hand the bios shows the temps?!
btw PC wizard was the only software that gave me a reading but it was wrong as it said that my AMD 955 overclocked to 3.8ghz was running at 26degrees and that was during a prime95 stress test!!
Assuming you're using windows, and that you've tried the usual suspects, the most likely reason is that your motherboard doesn't support any. This would be a bad sign if you're hoping to overclock it.
my motherboard is the asus Crosshair Formula IV so I doubt that it doesn't support temp readings! I ve tried SpeedFan, SiSandra and forgot the other one. Possibly this "overclockers" motherboard doesn't come with a temp reading software bundled with it??
You can go to the Asus site and look in the download section - just search for your motherboard and you will find hard ware monitoring software that would have been part of the original bundle I suspect.
It is really strange that you are unable to use any of the very good application that have already been mentioned.
btw cpuid hardware monitor is telling me that the cpu temp is 34 Celsius...but as bot the MAX and MIN temps are 34 I doubt it is a good reading! apart from having the individual core temps blank...
wait actuallt cpuid hardware monitor is working because during a prime95 stress test the temps upped from 34 to 47 It is running quite good eh considering that this amd 955 is oc to 3.8ghz and I am running 2 benchmark tests at the same time (prime95 and unigine heaven benchmark)?
