I'm running an old Asus P4P800-vm mobo in my new WHS server and am still trying to work out the kinks. I've got a thread up in the server section by way of a build log, but thought the expertise in here might solve this particular problem.
I want to throttle the cpu when it reaches a certain temp. In the bios it has options to do this. I've set the Throttle setting to on. The amount to 50%. And the level to 55C (for the sake of the trial)
Theoretically as soon as the temp rises above 55C the Cpu should drop from 2.8 down to 1.4, but it's not happening. I set up cpu-z, mbm5 and prime95 and let it go - temps climbed through 55 - nothing - 65 - nothing - eventually got bored at 75C. Even allowing for differences betwen the bios sensors and the one in mbm5 at 75 it should cut the power. Anyone had any luck / got any ideas
