Got a weird problem where my computer seems to have dropped 10 degrees in its temperature and become very unstable for no reason.

Its an old Socket A setup. 250x9 Iam running at the moment with a mobile AMD
THe mobo is DFI infinity.

Usually its stable under load at around 40 degrees, last night it dropped to 26 degrees while not doing much work. Then it reboots and keeps on freezing during bios, loading, etc

The only way I can keep this machine stable is by running prime95 constantly to keep the temperature up.

Anyone recognise this? I cleaned all the heatsinks off and reapplied them.

I tried changing timings and voltages but the lower the temperature/load the more unstable it is

Wow, I've never heard of that problem before !!!

Can you not turn down or unplug some fans if you need to keep the temperature up?

I suspect temperature is not really the issue. Could be power related.

Thats a wierd one !! :?

I stripped everything down yesterday to dust it all down and seems a bit better now and it stayed up on prime95 for 12 hours or so but its still unstable if I let the temp vary much from 41 at all.

I dont have a can of air but I do have a 2 kilowatt leafblower, maybe that'll finish off the last of whatever dust is left :D
