I'm hitting about 59-62 degrees while playing Battlefield 2142 and idle'ing at around 48-51c

Is that about right or should I be worrying? Got a AF7 pro cooling it and it's only at about 1.350 volts.

A little on the high side compaired to mine,

Im hitting 48c load - E6300 @ 3.3Ghz @ 1.45v and 31c idle with a Tuniq Tower.

Have you tried reseating the cooler? Does the heatsink feel warm/hot? Your idle temp indicates that the cooler is not making good contact with the processor.

That idle is hot, what the room temps like? my CPU in sig is at 23C on water (1.56Volts) in a room at 20C.
Have you reseated the HSF or checked for a concave IHS.

My rooms not that hot at all, I'd say pretty cold

Grr nah I haven't tried reseating the cooler, guess I'll give it a shot.

Cut temps down by about 10 degrees but found out a clip on the fan/heatsink is broke (I hate the click down system 775 uses)

So since I'm outta paste I'll just buy a new AF7 since it comes with paste and it won't have a broken clip so it'll make better contact.

61C load for a E6300 @ 3.3Ghz on an AF7 isnt too surprising.... the AF7 is a good budget cooler, just not THAT good for high overclocks.

TBH though, if you are getting a new cooler anyway..... get a better one.

Managed to fix the clips that hold it in place properly now, got some AS5 on the way from OCUK, with the clips in properly I'm at about 43-44c idle now, I definately am lacking thermal paste onit.

Hmm what chip, what cooler, what voltage, what overclock, what load temps? :)

Would like to point at this is only true on a cold day :P although its currently sitting at 35 with the fan unplugged for 10 minutes.

Load is about 55 with the fan off, 47 with the fan on.

Gets pretty toasty oc'd, dam you AMD!!

laptop 3400+ idles at 45-55, load 79. main pc 4800+ @ 2.94/1.55V = orthos load of 70/75, and thats lapped.

if its stable, dont worry
if your still worried, drop the clock + volts,

I think the C2D is good for a lot more than that before it starts throttling.

Hear some good / some bad things about the AC7.

Ah right, yeah I mean last night my fan actually came out of place and the temps shot up to 85 then it started to throttle, needless to say the fan is back on properly now.

I know it's a lack of thermal paste causing my temps, scraping some off my old fan and putting it on the new heatsink dropped temps by a few more degrees, so I should be seeing more temp drops when I get my AS5 in a few days.
