Hello all.

I've recently upgraded to a 9800X3D/X870E system and in the Armory Crate dashboard I've noticed there is 'CPU Temperature' and 'CPU Package Temperature'. The CPU Temp is always 10c cooler (averages around 33c) than the CPU Package Temp (averages around 43c), what's the difference between them and which one is the most important? And are my temps good? Help greatly appreciated.

I could be wrong but I think that one is the highest temp out of all the cores and the other is the average temp across all cores.

Nothing is as simple as it used to be. :(

You can say that again lol. So is my CPU temp of 33c at idle and my CPU Package temp of 43c at idle any good? Because I remember my 9900K used to run at 28-30c at idle which is quite a bit cooler than my new 9800X3D. The last AMD CPU I owned was an Athlon 64 3500+ all the way back in 2005 so my experience with AMD CPUs is very out dated lmao!

I have the same with my 3700x going to the 5700x3d- it runs hotter but as aaronyuri said the 3d cache means it runs hotter but all okay and completely within spec.

It's fine, especially with the high ambient temps we have right now.

As most apps will use CPU Temperature as the one used for report it, that’s the one I believe is the more important.
In GPUs Core and Hotspot as almost as crucial as a very high Hotspot would cause thermal throttle, and a big delta between them indicate, usually, poor/uneven mounting pressure.
The x3D chips usually run warmer, until the 9800 which changed the way the 3D cache is mounted in the chip. My 7800x3D runs warmer than the 7600 non-x I used before, but under load, almost the same.
My NVMEs also reports 2 temperatures. One I believe is for the controller, but the Samsung App reports the lower one as the NVME temperature.
Confusing, sure is.
