Temporarily divert mobile calls to another number

Hi all

I want to divert my current Vodafone number to an O2 number. The Vodafone SIM will not be in a phone. Is this possible? And will it redirect text messages too?

it will divert calls but it won't divert texts.

Divert is done network side so yes, it's fine if the SIM isn't in a phone. As above though, no texts get redirected. It'd be nice if the networks allowed this...

how temporarily? if you could borrow an android (or I'd imagine any smartphone) you could get it to relay texts to your new number
