Normally i have my computer down on the floor in a small space out the way. Now i have a temporarily new desk as the old one broke. Problem with that is, the desk has no place to put my pc :( so now its up behind my monitor. All fans are on (estimate) 10% and its driving me nuts! not to mention my cheap dvd drive!. I have a lankool k62 case with standard fans. I cant turn fans down anymore or they just stop due to lack of voltage :( cpu fan is quite, 460gtx i cant hear due to my case fans. PSU is slient. There is 3 exhaust fans and 1 intake.

Is there a cheap way noise damp my pc without buying those kits? i dont know when ill be getting the permanent new desk. I might even need to upgrade my case to satisfy it i dont know. When the pc was down on the floor i could have it happily running at 100%, including the 460 and cpu and i wouldn't hear a thing.

You wouldn't expect a fan running at almost stalling speed to make that much noise.

I'm wondering if the case is sending vibrations through your temporary desk and causing something to resonate.

Find out which fan is noisy by stopping them and starting one in turn until you find the culprit. Mount your case on something soft to reduce vibrations through your desk.

Even a case with dampening won't help much if an exposed fan is spinning at the same height as your ears.

thanks for the replys, i dont think its vibration noise as when 2 of 3 of the case fans are turned off you can still hear one very slightly. I will try and find something i can rest the case on other than the rubber feet.

Im gaming constantly so i dont think switching some fans off would help my temp very good. I always have my headphones on but i still hear. I do listen to music but when i stop the fans seem even louder :(

Out of interest, how old are your fans? Some really old fans I used to have really sounded bad after a few years of work. Its like the bearings had gone.
