I'm going to Surrey to pick up the MGF tomorrow. It's just been MOTd but prior to that it had been stood for several months so I'm slightly concerned that I'll conk out on the M4 on the way back. My current breakdown cover is with Europ Assist but that's only for the Mondeo at the moment, it doesn't cover me with other cars.

I plan to just use Day insure to insure the car in order to get it home but does anyone know of a breakdown equivalent which will let me have cover for 1 day just in case there's any problem on the way home?

No idea but want to know if you got it back and when we can see the compulsory bread shot :D

What sort of bread would you like? Panini? Ciabata? Hovis?

I actually forgot about this thread and just drove it back a couple of hours ago.

Coming up the M4 there was a crash so I thought I'd be a smart arse and take the roof down for a bit of topless nightime driving, then suddenly the traffic dispersed and we were back up to motorway speeds and I was in my T-shirt with the roof off and it was 3C outside, brrrrrrrrrrr............

It's not a bad car actually, it's fairly nippy and handles ok too (although I did have a bit of a drift on the ringroad but it was easily corrected without any drama). It suffers pretty badly with wind noise, far worse than the Elise and it's also quite rattly and squeaky too but I just turned up the stereo and ignored it.

I'll try to get pics soon but I'm away with work for most of this week then off skiing on Saturday so your bread shot may have to wait a little while.

It was uneventful probably because the previous owner has spent a fortune on the car, there's receipts for about £5k with the car. It's had new HG last year from a main dealer, new cambelt, new roof, suspension, brakes, headlights etc.

It's only done 29k so the engine and gearbox feel lovely too. I just need to tidy up the bodywork a bit cos it's been stood for months.

I can do garlic bread, shouldn't be a problem.

Haven't made my mind up but I actually think I might do the stupid thing and keep it (will flog the Mondeo though)

The Mondeo really, really bores me. It's just sooooo dull to drive, if I keep it much longer I think I'm gonna doze off at the wheel and crash it. At least the RWD MGF might keep me awake a bit longer.

Tiz a bit silly having 2 soft top cars though I guess.

Did you find the front a bit light at triple speeds?

Don't know yet, I mostly stuck to around 80ish all the way up the M4 as I was following a friend (and it was freezing with the top down too)

westy, got it from EMG in Epsom.

have you got a windbreak for the F? when I got one it made a HUGE difference. mine is the OEM fit one with a single hoop of metal filled with a gauze type stuff. It makes a HUGE difference to the amount of cold air whipping around your neck.

Paul

Nope, doesn't have that. How much are they?

agw_01, it's just the normal K, not VVC.

Is it worth doing any mods to it? What does the K respond to?

I fancy doing a few basic mods but I doubt I'll be swapping engines or anything. If I want more power I'll just use the Elise :)

I think I'll just swap the HU and speakers and do a few small cosmetic mods, nothing major as it's only my runaround car.

I need to buy bread first before I can post pics otherwise the OCUK detectives will hunt me down.

I'm sure everyone's seen a white MGF before though :)

Just in case there's anyone that hasn't seen a white MGF before, here's some quick breadless pics that I just took with my phone.

yeah, it's actually a lot better than I thought. Much to my surprise I'm actually quite enjoying it, far better than I expected.

I might even wash it tomorrow :)
