Good morning,

I am moving to a new flat this weekend and have booked a VM installation on 1st May so need some form of temporary internet connectivity.

At first I thought I might just get a tethering bolt on for my phone but that seems like a bit of a fuss if I am in and out whilst using the phone. Now I am leaning towards getting a dongle.

Anyone know any good deals or the best way of getting essentially a two week connection for my PC?

Thanks

for just 2 weeks i guess i would just use my phone. But i guess it would depend on what phone you have and what kind of data package you have on it

a dongle might end up costing you abit, but if you go for one, make sure you get one on a 30day contract. You dont really wanna be stuck on a 18/24 month contract for just a few weeks use

Added the bolt on to my mobile package in the end as I thought it would be the quickest and easiest approach.

Despite Three stating it would take four hours to activate (added at 18.30 last night) and needing access today, I'm still getting a error stating that tethering is blocked on my plan. Clueless technical support have had to escalate it. Annoyed.

yeah i did that in my old place.
if someone near by has BT broadband they will have a public wifi available to connect to.

You can usually buy weekly passes for access.

The bolt you bought, was it for data, or tethering ? (or both)
some networks/plans limit tethering from phones

I'll investigate the BT Openzone when I get back tonight.

The bolt-on was specifically for tethering.

Three finally activated the Tethering properly today.

I did have a look at the BT Wifi as an access point was within range. I was shocked at the prices: 1 hour £3.50; 1 day £5; 5 days £15; 30 days £39

yeah its not the cheapest, but its still better than being stuck on a long contract if you have no other options.

but it sounds like ur phone should be good enough until you get something better
