Temporary Profile in Windows 7

Just make sure you do a proper backup before you starting messing around. Deleting those registry entries is the only way I've found to reliably solve that problem.

everything is backed up with norton 360 via an external 1TB HD, what problem did you have? was it as easy as it makes out to be.

why now? whats the problem? if its 'common' why isnt there a microsoft update to sort it out? thanks

Everytime i turn on now i need to reset at least once, sometimes 2, it has been 3 before!

should i go ahead with the guide or is there something a little less 'risky'

Hi,
I work in IT for a company that has 3500 users and this has been a common problem that has happened for us since upgrading to Windows 7.
I'm still investigating the root cause of the issue, but the guide that you provided does work as we use it and it doesn't cause any problems.

Hope this helps you as it's a very annoying problem! If it reoccurs it might be worth re-installing windows, as the problem happens before its not properly "logging off" when you log off.

If anyone else has encountered this problem in a working environmental please let me know.

3500, really!! i bet that was a pain,

so it isnt the fact it isnt loading correctly its the fact it isnt logging off corectly? i always hit shut down, never log off then shut down. hmm

i will give the guide a go and report back.

well ive tried it and nothing!

i now have registries ending -1001, -1001.bak, -1001_new and -1001_new1

please help.......

Wouldn't bother with the "new" business.

Just log on with an alternative Admin account, hit up the ProfileList section of registry, find yours with ".bak", remove the ".bak" from it and delete the others.

In this case, if your proper account is the -1001.bak, then delete the -1001, -1001_new and -1001_new1 and remove the .bak extension from your own one.

Restart the machine, and log back in with your own account. Should be job done from there.
