Hi,

Since I haven't managed to find an mATX X79 motherboard for i7 4820K, decided to sell it for £320 and side-grade to an i5 in mATX/mITX until the AMD Zen is out (which is a guarantee change).

However while I have done quite a bit research, cannot justify the extra costs of an 6600K over a 4690K.
Example.
4690K with ASRock Z97M PRO4 Micro ATX is rounded up, to £270 delivered.
(I keep my current 8GB DDR3 ram and that Asrock is a good overclockers)

6600K with Gigabyte Z170M DH3 mATX and 16GB DDR4 RAM is £370. Or the Z170N Wifi for £380 total.

Any thoughts welcome. I will de-lid both (ordered the tool) and watercooled with custom loop.

Cheers

If you don't intend on keeping them super long then I'd grab something 2nd hand. Plenty of stuff comes up on the MM.

But between your options I would get the 4690K and ASRock board.

I really wouldn't place all your hopes on Zen. I just can't see them catching up and after all the bs AMD spew out before new launches and then when it arrives it's either mediocre or a flop I shall be waiting until it's actually out and much reviewed before making judgement. If I were you I would just go X99 now if that's what your usage requires.

Nah, I wouldn't have considered changing the X79 if I didn't wanted to move to much smaller size case.

And pls lets not open another AMD vs Intel discussion here.
