Just wondering if anyone could let me know about temps with these cards in crossfire.

As it stands i have 2 different versions of the card one HIS and one XFX, the XFX one was smaller and came with 2 6pin connections which i didnt expect : o.

But yeah, when playing bf3 for example the HIS card (also the top card) sits at around 70c-72c sometimes hitting 76c where as the bottom card runs around 58c-62c. I had the HIS card for quite a while so im thinking some dust build up and possibly re doing thermal paste might help?

:)

According to AnandTech for CF 6850's max temp in furmark is 88c http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/302

Crysis is 82c

I take it there're not overclocked?

Have you tried swapping the cards over an see what the max temp is for the top card as it might run cooler. Anyway temps are fine, Ati cards are good to around 99c not forgetting they tend to run hotter then nvidia cards.

Removing the factory thermal compound would probably void your warranty, email someone at HIS and XFX and ask them, just be sure to save the email response.

Cool, thanks. I think ill grab a can of compressed air from work and get rid of any dust : p

Ill email HIS and XFX too becuase i have some MX-2 sitting about doing nothing, may aswell use it, right?

voids the warranty :(

But if bought from OcUK, they don't care if the cooler has been taken off. TBH, no manufacturer does, as long as you can't tell

Well on the HIS one there is no stickers covering any screws or anything, so i think i could quite easily get away with it.
