Temps okay?

Hey guys.

I've got an AMD Phenom II X3 720BE with a Titan Fenrir Evo cooler fitted.

I've got the 4th core unlocked with stock clock settings at the moment and under a Prime95 test, HWMonitor is showing "CPU" temperature as around 68 - 70C.

Are these temperatures okay, and are they the right temperature values I should be looking at? I cannot see the core temps as they are all showing as 0C because the 4th core is unlocked as I understand it.

Thanks

Under 75'C full load is just fine. Imho temps are "ok" until you start hitting 80-85+

The maximum operating temperature of that chip is 73°C so the temperature isn't OK "until you start hitting 80-85+".

The OP is pretty much at the maximum of where they want to be and ideally they want to be lower.

Those temps seem a bit high for an AMD chip, not to mention at stock clocks :O
I didnt know unlocking an extra core gets the temps soaring!

I'm confused as to why they are so high even with the Titan Fenrir Evo.

At idle it sits around 33C which seems okay, albeit I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to these things.

I'm wondering whether its the orientation of the heatsink. I have a rear exhaust fan but the AMD bracket for the fenrir only lets me mount top to bottom or bottom top (currently fitted as the latter).

You're presumably sucking hot air in from the back of the graphics card which won't help.

Would it be better the other way round?

Ideally I would like the East/West orientation but cannot due to the AMD bracket supplied. Unless there is an alternative bracket available?

Would different thermal paste help? currently using the supplied Royal Grease.
