The temps i am getting from gaming on high at the moment are around 46. What a good temp for them to be at and whats to high?? The graphics cards are Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 TOXIC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card x 2. The top one is always hotter than the bottem. With the bottem one running at 31 at high gaming. Any advice??

I see you are running CrossFire then. This is very simple to help you with.

Firstly, look the image below! Do you notice the space between the cards?

The reason the top on is getting hotter is because as you see from the image, the bottom cards fan is totally unrestricted so it gets the air the fan needs to push into the card to keep it cool as there is nothing blocking the fan.

The top card has the bottom card directly underneath it, blocking a lot of air that could be pushed into the top card by its fan to keep it cool. This is a very common problem with CrossFire and Sli users. There are only 2 real ways to keep the temps down in the top card.

Firstly make sure you case has a side fan(s), as this will push air directly onto the cards, giving the top card some extra air being pushed onto the PCB and some extra air that is being forced inbetween the gap between the cards, giving the fan some extra air to push through the card to keep it cool. Plus with the bottom card giving off so much heat, there is basically no cool air, only hot air getting into the top card. And as you see with the Cooler Master HAF 932, it has a side fan pushing air directly onto the GPU section of the case.

The other thing you can do is to buy the Antec Spot Cool which is a flexible fan that attaches to the motherboard plate via one screw and can be bent to be positioned straight over the GPU core between the CPU cooler and the top GPU like so. And at around £14, you cannot complain! They are great coolers!

Hope this helps!

Try to keep as much space between the cards as possible. Antec spotcols help aswell :)

Cinderz - What GPU coolers are those? Look AMAZING!

They don't make them anymore. They are the ThermalTake Duorbs coolers.

I had one on my old 8800GT due to the single slot cooler being totally crap!

I picked it up for around £25 about 2 years ago when the 8800GT was still a decent card to have.

Plus I pulled that image off the Google lol. I had the same one mind with the blue led lights on it.

Shame, I'd be tempted to buy some lol.

Yea they stopped making them around 2 years ago. I think I got it just in time.

They only really went on the 6800 to the GTS250 and similar ATI cards.

They were great, but I don't think they would be able to keep up with the amount of heat up to date cards through out!
