Temps on my Q6600.......

I've recently upgraded to a Q6600 (lapped) CPU and initially when I installed it the temps were mid to high 50's (idle) so I redid the thermal paste and re-seated my Coolermaster Hyper TX cooler and the temps dropped to high 30's/low 40's while idle on the 4 cores.

Anyway, I've recently put my new Windows 7 on and thought I'd put coretemp back on last night and I noticed that the temps were back up to around 50-55!?!?!

As far as I know nothing else has changed except the new windows install!?!?

Does anyone have any suggestions if the new temps seem a bit high??

Thanks.....

At stock my Q6600 under my Tuniq Tower ran between 19-25 (low fan speed) on cool days, on warmer days its more about 23-28 (full fan speed). I have ran at 2.7 for a brief period and it wasn't too different to my current speeds.

I wouldn't expect temperatures far from what I've got. What volts are you running through it?

Are these temps on full load? Run Prime95 to see. You could replace the TIM, but short of buying a new cooler or case fans there's not much else...

Apart from the overclock.

I think the volts are 1.3 and no, these temps are while idle!

The thing I cant understand is why they have gone from hovering around 40 degrees to suddenly being around 50!?!

Well find out what your full load temps are.Idle isn't really important.

What does your resource meter say?

What does your bios temperature say?

If your full load temps are fine I personally wouldn't worry about it.
