Temps on Overclocked Bundle

Today I recieved my I7-930 overclocked bundle (4.2Ghz with Asus Rampage III) al lworking great but the temps are realy high! compared to my QX9650 which ran at 45 under full load this runs at a whopping 84 under load, is this right?

What are you loading the system with, if an application such as intel burn test, LinX, prime etc those temps sound about right for air cooling. The i7's are pretty warm running compared to the s775 chips.

These temps are when I am folding, or when I use Prime 95...I will be water cooling this when my block comes, I couldn't wait I had to see it running

how long did you run prime 95 for when it hit 84??

Almost right away, I know this will rise when it gets further into the test but it still seems very high to me.

Which cooler and fans are you using?

It came with a Prolimatech Megahalems CPU Cooler with 2000RPM Sharkoon Silent Eagle 120mm Fan as part of the overclocked bundle.

do you play any games on it im thinking of getin this bundle and the temp,s are wot is stopping me at the mo wot crysis run like at that speed?.

anything below 100C is fine, I wouldn't worry about it

but with the water block it should only get to the high 60's, low 70's

Those temps at that speed whilst folding/prime are about normal, as HW91 said depending on rad size, ambient youd be looking at mid 60's low 70's full load, if no GPU in the loop.

My rig in sig, folds at low 60's to mid 60's depending on ambient, and fan speed i use aswell. So basicly those temps u are getting are about normal for that speed and air, so would'nt worry to much.

scrubs, I ran a quick test run here are the outputs, if you give me some more specific settings I will do another using them.

Run #1- DX10 1280x1024 AA=No AA, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 84.01
Run #2- DX10 1280x1024 AA=8x, 64 bit test, Quality: High ~~ Overall Average FPS: 76.745

Temps come in at about 70, ambient temp around 22 in my room.

sounds like your temps are about right. what case do you hvae the bundle mounted in?

Its currently running in a Mountain mods U2-UFO, I have just fitted my water blocks which came today..what a vast improvement! NB\SB temps went from 61 to 30 and CPU went from 84 to 66 under load so I am a happy chappy!
